Friday, May 17th, 1996.  Hempfield 3, Warwick 2

Hempfield defeated Warwick 3-2 to capture the School's first Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship in 22 years, and the first of six won under the direction of coaching legend Tom Getz.

Bill Brunner picked up the win with two inning relief of starting pitcher Joe Zangari.  They combined to strike out seven and walk three.  Joe Zangari hit a ground rule double in the 5th inning.  Courtesy runner Matt Kriner, running for Zangari, scored on Ryan Gunzenhauser's single.  In the 6th inning Hempfield added two more runs on a lead off triple from Cory Liebl followed by a walk to Adam Burk.  With runners on the corners, Kyle Ireland doubled to right field and collected two RBI, pushing the score in favor of the Black Knights by a margin of 3-2.  The final out was recorded when Bill Brunner got Warwick's Matt Becker to fly out to left field and Hempfield celebrated the second League Championship.
