Friday, May 21, 2004. Hempfield 8, Penn Manor 1
In the 2004 Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship Game, two Section One Powers squared off for the fourth time that season. Penn Manor entered the game 19-3; Hempfield 18-4. Penn Manor had won 17 of their previous 18 games, including a Section One playoff game over Hempfield, and both teams aces were on the mound: Austin Hinkle for Hempfield and Phil Texter for Penn Manor. Hinkle entered the game with a 9-0 record; Texter with a 6-1 mark. Texter was uncharacteristically wild, walking 7 batters in 3 and 1/3 innings pitched.
Hempfield used a 5 run 5th inning to expand the lead to 6-0. Keith Dowell hit a two out triple scoring two Black Knights. The senior right fielder reached base each time he was at the plate, had three RBI's, stole a base, and scored twice. Jordan Herr was 2-4 with two stolen bases.
